Clara J. Veal
CLARA J. VEAL, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) served in the United States Army Reserve for thirty years. She is also retired from the federal government after a distinguish career as an auditor for 33 years. Not one to sit on her laurels, her current avocation is an entrepreneur and small business partner in a tax preparation and accounting company that she has maintained an interest for over 20 years.
She serves as a volunteer on a committee for the Texas State Bar of Lawyer Discipline that reviews complaints filed against lawyers. Also, she volunteers with South Union Community Development Center that provides food and clothing to community members. Being a native Houstonian, Clara received her secondary and formal education in Houston. She attended Dotson Elementary School, Attucks Junior High School, and graduated from Worthing Senior High School. She also received a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in Accounting from Texas Southern University.
Her recognitions and awards include: the United States Army Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal, two awards of the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
She is married to Mark A. Veal and has raised two daughters, Cheherazade (George) and Christine. The joy of her life are her grandchildren, Joshua and Clarissa.
She is a silver member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Of all her accomplishments and achievements, she is most proud of the day she became a member of the South Union Church Of Christ where she is a member and teacher.
