Shani N. Robinson
Dr. Shani N. Robinson serves as an Associate Dean and Accounting Professor for the Sam
Houston State University College of Business Administration. She earned both her BBA and
MBA in accounting from Sam Houston State University (SHSU) prior to earning a PhD in
accounting from the University of North Texas. She began her career in public accounting with
PricewaterhouseCoopers, in the Private Client Service (PCS) tax group in Houston Texas. Years
later, she decided to follow her passion for educating college students and chose to begin a career
in academia.
In 2004, Dr. Robinson was the first African American professor hired in the Sam Houston State
University College of Business Administration and over the past 18 years, she has had the
privilege of teaching and working with thousands of college students to assist them with
professional development prior to entering the business world. In addition to her administrative
duties of overseeing operations within the College of Business Administration, she enjoys guest
lecturing, public speaking, serving on various boards, working with business leaders, community
organizations, conducting academic research, and spearheading professional development and
career readiness efforts. Dr. Robinson resides in Spring, TX with her husband Solomon, and two
sons, T.J. and Tayton.
